What We Cover

Big Emotions and Behaviour

What this looks like at home

Your child explodes, shuts down, argues, refuses, or becomes aggressive. You see whining, rude tone, door slamming, ignoring, or constant pushback. Some children hold it together at school then fall apart at home. Others get labelled disruptive or disrespectful. You feel like you are constantly correcting and walking a tightrope between being too harsh and being ignored.

What is usually driving it

Big behaviour is often stress plus missing skills. Children struggle with frustration tolerance, flexibility, impulse control, and problem solving. Feeling powerless, hungry, tired, or overstimulated makes it worse. Fear and shame can produce quick compliance, but they often create secrecy, resentment, and bigger power struggles over time. Many children are not trying to be bad. They are showing you where they are overwhelmed, under skilled, or no longer feeling safe enough to cooperate.

What we work on

  • Managing parent triggers, staying regulated, then leading
  • Co regulation steps that help your child settle enough to listen
  • Validation that lowers escalation, without removing the limit
  • Handling aggression safely, hitting, kicking, breaking things
  • Responding to defiance and power struggles without a battle
  • Managing rudeness and disrespect while keeping authority
  • Consequences that teach, not punish, and how to follow through

Tools you will learn

One sentence validation scripts that keep your child open. A boundary ladder so you know what to say and do at each stage. De escalation sequences, reset routines, and coaching prompts for after the storm. Repair scripts that reconnect without collapsing into guilt or dropping the limit. If harsh discipline has been part of your pattern, you learn safer alternatives that still stop behaviour.

Suggested ways to get support

Workshops are ideal for practical tools and a clear plan to practise. 1 to 1 Coaching is best for repeated patterns, school issues, or when home life feels high stress and complex. Talks and Seminars work for schools and community groups that want behaviour support without harm.
